We can help you understand your options

A fixed mortgage allows you to lock in an interest rate over a number of years, which provides certainty as you’ll know exactly what your repayments will be over the fixed period.

There are different fixed-rate deals on the market, and we can advise on the right option to suit your situation and needs.

What fixed-rate options are out there?

Fixed rates are traditionally over two or five years, however, there is another option of a 3-year fixed deal available currently.

Why choose a shorter fixed-rate mortgage term?

Choosing a 2-year or 3-year fixed rate currently has slightly higher rates so your repayments will be a little more expensive but then you’re tied in for less time, providing you with the flexibility to switch to a lower rate if the market improves by the time your current deal ends.

Why choose a longer fixed-rate rate mortgage term?

Choosing a 5-year fixed term means you stay on the rate for longer, providing more stability over your repayments. The amount you pay monthly won’t change, irrespective of whether the Base rate goes up or down, helping you to budget more effectively.

5- year fixed mortgages currently have somewhat lower interest rates, making repayments less and improving affordability. Lenders can also lend more over a longer period.

Do I have other mortgage options?

If a fixed-rate mortgage isn’t for you, then we are here to help you consider alternative options, including a tracker mortgage, that follows the Bank of England’s base rate.

We have access to a whole array of lenders and will spend time to ensure the mortgage offerings we discuss are the right ones for you.

Think carefully before securing any other debts against your home. Your home/property may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage. There may be a fee for mortgage advice. The precise amount of the fee will depend upon your circumstances but will range from £250 to £1,000 and this will be discussed and agreed with you at the earliest opportunity.
